Pre-treatment information for general anaesthesia

Before your surgery:

  • Register at the hospital before the date of your surgery.
  • At two weeks prior to surgery:
      • Stop smoking
      • Verify all prescribed medication with Dr Strydom
      • Stop taking all supplements and homeopathic preparations
      • Stop taking any medication that contains aspirin
  • Arrange for someone to drive you home after surgery.

On the day of your surgery:

  • Report at the hospital reception on arrival. Please make sure of your check-in time:
      • 06:00 for all procedures scheduled between 8:00 and 13:00
      • 12:00 for all afternoon procedures
  • Do not eat or drink anything in the six hours before your hospital check-in time.

What to bring along to the hospital:

  • All your usual prescribed medication
  • Your proof of identity and medical aid card
  • Your post-operation garments received during your last visit
  • Comfortable clothes and toiletries if you are staying overnight
  • Remove all jewellery and leave all valuables at home.

What to wear:

  • Comfortable, 100% cotton underwear
  • Do not wear contact lenses, rather bring your glasses
  • Do not shave the area to be treated.
  • Do not use make-up on the area to be treated.

After your surgery:

  • You may resume taking your usual prescribed medication as permitted.
  • Do not drive yourself home.
  • Make a follow-up appointment.
  • Follow the post-operative instructions indicated for your specific procedure.

For two weeks after surgery:

  • Do not take any supplements and homeopathic preparations.
  • Refrain from taking any medication that contains aspirin.

Pre-treatment information for local anaesthesia

Before your procedure:

At two weeks prior to your procedure:

  • Stop smoking
  • Verify all prescribed medication with Dr Strydom
  • Stop taking all supplements and homeopathic preparations
  • Stop taking any medication that contains aspirin

On the day of your procedure:

  • Arrive in good time.
  • Do not shave the area to be treated.
  • Do not use make-up on the are to be treated.
  • For larger procedures, arrange for someone to drive you home.

After your procedure:

  • You may resume taking your usual prescribed medication as permitted.
  • Make a follow-up appointment.
  • Follow the post-operative instructions received.

For two weeks after your procedure:

  • Do not take any supplements and homeopathic preparations
  • Refrain from taking any medication that contains aspirin

Pre-treatment information for Botox and Fillers

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding patients cannot receive BOTOX.
  • You may eat and drink as usual.
  • Please inform us if you develop a cold sore just before or on the the day of your procedure.
  • Do not take any aspirin related medication, i.e. Disprin for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the procedure.
  • Do not take anti-inflammatory medication, i.e. Voltaren for 2 weeks before the procedure.
  • Refrain from taking homeopathic preparations (incl. Arnica, Ginko Biloba, St. John’s Wort, Ginger extract) for 2 weeks before the procedure.
  • Refrain from taking dietary supplements and vitamins (incl. omega oils) for 2 weeks before the procedure.
  • Please note that smoking decreases blood supply to the skin and will increase the risk of infection and poor healing.
  • Remove all make-up from the area to be treated.
  • Please inform us about any dental work, especially invasive procedures like root canals, or extractions, planned for 2 weeks prior or after your filler appointment.
